Signing in

Your address, your password, a six-digit code, and how long you stay in.

Getting in

  1. Enter your official address and password Your address is the one your organisation issued. If the address and password do not match an account, the message is the same either way — the system will not tell a stranger which addresses exist.
  2. Enter the six-digit code A code is sent to the same address. It lasts ten minutes and works once. The password on its own never signs you in: without the code you are identified but not admitted.
  3. You land on the overview What you see there is assembled from what your role allows, so it is the fastest way to tell what you have been given.

Staying signed in

  • After 20 minutes without activity you are signed out. Shared desks and open offices make this necessary.
  • After 12 hours you are signed out whatever you have been doing.
  • Before deciding a case or changing a statutory parameter, you are asked for your password again if you signed in more than 15 minutes ago. These two actions are consequential enough to be worth confirming that the person at the keyboard is still you.

If you have forgotten your password

Use the link on the sign-in screen. A link to set a new one is sent to your address; it lasts 30 minutes and works once. The screen gives the same answer whether or not an account exists, so it cannot be used to find out who works at the Office.
